It's just a matter of preference, depends what you like, to me Rubick is a very versatile hero that changes every game.
I hear ya rambo, I love Invoker but after a long game with him, I just want to play wraith king or something and not have to press 1000 keys a minute. Gotta mix it up for sanity's sake.
Yeah. I play Treant because he is so much fun to play and I like the things he says, very amusing. Just suits my laid back personality: I'll get there. Be patient etc.
However, that said I am actually going to start branching out this week and looking forward to the abuse I will get for playing like an even bigger tool (due to over specialisation and because I suck generally).
I can't sit and spin on one hero either. I prefer learning new things when I play, and playing many heroes is the best way to learn.
Playing many heros is exactly the opposite of the best way to learn. Only if you are totaly new to dota, stick to playing every game a different hero, so you can see what the heros are able to do.
If you take a look at ebbinghausens forgetting curve you have to repeat in certain intervalls the information you want to learn:

Learning a new hero forces your brain so much to focus on the mechanics of the certain hero, that you will underperform in other tasks like Positioning, map awerness etc.
You won't be able to do all this stuff on the same lvl with a new hero. Getting familiar with the new heros mechanics requires you to play him frequently. That does not force you to play him ONLY for several month. But lets say you want to learn invoker, it would be smart to play every day 1-2 games of invoker, and maybe another game or two other heros. Playing more than 4 games in a row results in bad games, since your performane will decrease the longer you play.
I play Sven most of the time because I feel comfortable playing the hero (same with Abaddon, but the way I use him only fits in certain comps so I end up using him only when needed); as well as the fact that I have a reliable 60% odd winrate with him. I obviously do not choose him when a better carry choice is available though.
So some people have different feelings and responses to stimululi. Wait, aren't we all exactly the same? I like Liverpool FC so doesn't everyone? I don't like cucumber so can you possible enjoy it? A cup tea tastes horrible to me but you like it? Weirdo.
People are different, get over it.
I prefer focussing on the things that I want to improve. Hence I only play the same hero. In addition to that I really like the heroes I'm playing and the only reason why I play Dota is to play this heroes.
For me it's like playing some RPG. Except that in RPGs you can only play as human(oid)s which is boring as hell.
Aside from that, I don't quite understand why do you care about other peoples hero preferences?
And for some reason they are the two of the most annoying heroes in the game.

People who play the same hero everyday definitely need to seek some medical and psychological help, probably. And of course mastering a hero is much more stressfull and time-consuming than playing different heroes throughout the day.

my top played hero this patch is voker with 145 games (and a total of 174) and the next one is doom with 21. quite a big difference. invoker helped me raise my winrate a lot so i guess why not play him if you're successful

Since when is Jugg boring? He is the most fun carry in the game actually.
Of course Meepo is more fun (at least when you are not feeding) but I wouldn't call Jugg a "boring" hero. Boring heroes are Wisp, Treant, Chen, Medusa, PL etc

Jugger is fun cmon, PL is boring, medusa is repick material, treant IS AWFUL, Tinker is really fun, OD is boring as fuck too, Necro is kind of fun ( i love when you can play braindead and still win ) Centaur is kind of fun too, Kunkka is REALLY fun.
jugger is fun with a proper team i guess... he was fun enough that i did invoker+jugg combo 2 games in a row, but it got really boring after that...

@9v1 it's true you won't master any but it's a good idea to play them all a couple times to get a sense of their abilities for when you face them. Some abilities don't make sense until you actually use them.
I think what you are all learning from this discussion is that everyone has fun doing different things. And that is completely OK! I personally enjoy playing farming heroes, I play a variety of heroes but I try to make them all core DPS roles because that is what I enjoy the most. So I tend away from utility and support heroes and play the 1 position on a team so I get a variety of heroes since its CM mode. If someone likes to play AP and just pick the same hero every game and they enjoy it that's okay! They are having fun playing dota and they are not ruining the game for anyone else.

Go back to your boosted QW Invoker trashboy because that's the only way you can keep up with my Pudge and with Dota 2 generally. I only wish these bastards at Valve hadn't nerfed hook's range, speed, rot's damage and fountain hooks-mechanism. They gave him dagger but they do not allow him to trap enemies on cliffs. I mean fuck off Valve... me and Dendi are COMING FOR YOU! And i actually do believe that playing one hero only over a long period of time can do serious harm, both psychologically and physically as well. I did it for one month with Pudge only and it was really depressing and stressful trying to land all these hooks with no help to secure the kill from anyone of my team (and i blame even and my own stack for this from time to time). Nonetheless, Pudge is a special case for the reason i described. I still can't imagine what kind of personalities hide behind all these profiles... and personally... i don't want to.
edit: The only exception for me of course is Lightknight. ;D

The good thing about specializing on one hero is that you understand exactly even and the slightest changes that happen to him. And yes some serious shit are hidden from the changelogs of Dota 2, even from reddit as well, GUESS WHY? Because Valve has a lot of secrets to cover and because some motherfucking noobs at dev forums cry all night behind their monitor posting shit about how Pudge should be nerfed and that's why alla these changes have happened over time. And when i say that i will live up just to see this hero returning to his grace and previous status, i really mean it boys. One way or another. :)

After reading 9v1s post i can understand now why after switching hero i end up sometimes having troubles positioning or farming (if playing a carry), etc.
But I can tell you that, after 970 (currently) Rubick games, i cant get bored of it, the hero is just so damn fun and versatile.
Like someone said, people are different, some like playing Dota all the time, some play 20 games switching from one to the other on a daily basis.
think about the big picture, for me, I've always been the medic, the helpful one, the behind the scene guy. I like to play support and Rubick is what i really enjoy about supporting overall.
I like perfecting the hero that i play, for example in Tekken i usually play only Yoshimitsu.
This does not mean ofc that i am perfect with the heroes I'm using, just that i like to try at it.
