Maybe it's possible like in old source games to do it with console command? 'record demonamehere' and play back the demo?
I was able to find the games, you have to request the replay after the game in the lobby, and they appear in replays. I am not sure how to download them to my computer though, they do not appear in the replays folder.
nevermind, seems there are two dota folders for some reason and it got saved in the replay folder in the one under game/dota/replays instead of /dota/replays

I know I can use OBS but I'd like to get an actual game VOD ala the public games. I can't see any of my private lobby games in my dotabuff profile, trying to figure out how to record those.
