end game results: current gold vs gold earned per minute in General Discussion

A simple question, probably with a simple answer or maybe no one has ever bothered to change this.

    - Why does the end game result show how much gold a player has at the end of the game instead of how much gold a player made per minute during the game?

I guess its just to give a representation of a player's total net worth. But it does show the amount of gold you made per minute as well.

what are you talking about? it shows both

          doesnt it show both?

^it does not, you have to check out dotabuff to see it. But at the same time, you can multiply GPM by the game length, so the information is definitely there.

"...instead of how much gold a player made per minute during the game?"

it looks like he means just gpm, not gpm*game_duration

Ah, yeah, it shows both. I didn't read well, I think he was referring to the total gold earned statistic. My bad.

Well, I didn't assume the OP can't actually see what's on the screen (maybe he does not understand what GPM is), I assumed he wanted the statistics that dbuff offers in a post game screen. Though tbh I think the in-game screen can definitely be reworked to include some more data, like dbuff does, I don't see a reason why you can't see total gold, HH, HD and TD on an after game screen.

The current result screen is as good as it is. Just some general details which help players to assess how the game went based on GPM and XPM (e.g.: stomp, fair, comeback), and no more.

Extra details like HD, HH, TD and etc are essential, but not critical to most of the players, especially not in the lower skill brackets since they highly unlikely give a shit about it. People either use it as a tool to further flame the other players, or for the wrong assessment (e.g.: position 5 Venge who contributed to a lot unnecessary tower damage which she died for, instead of waiting to save her carry using Swap). You really need to disconnect from the game to hopefully objectively judge the game based on these information available.

Some of these details are actually already available to players immediately after the game if console is activated. Example: total/hero-specific hero damage, total debuff/disable time and skill-specific/item-specific damage. Though I do not understand the difference between total hero damage dealt by one person calculated in DotA 2 client and DotaBuff. They seem to differ at times but I don't know how.
