You can get some good laptops that aren't overpriced. My opinion is to buy a laptop with powerful specs that doesn't fall under the "gaming" category. All you get is LED's and a markup price in most cases.
Laptops from DigitalStorm seem OK to me. Yes, some of them are much more powerfull then I need. I just want to MAX graphics in Dota 2, not more then that.
They are not very hot when it comes down to the appearance. But they could be an alternative to me if the screen is great and the fan nois is low. What do you know about this?
Just get a laptop with ATLEAST a GTX 860m video card or upwards, you're welcome.
@qxz:
Welcum to the HP club m8. Mine served me also for a lot of years and is still doin fine. I usually recommend HP laptops as well since i always had very good experience with em.
I got an ASUS RoG laptop off ebay for $670 a few years ago, graphics card can run most 2012-2014 games at medium or high settings
Slightly overpriced but not nearly as much as actual gaming laptops (which run from like $900 to $2500)
^ you got an old one. New desktops of equal spec to a laptop usually are about $500 cheaper.
A second hand desktop will cost much less than a new one as well.
yea but it's more convenient for mobility, and since i don't play much pc games outside of dota it doesn't really matter to me
omg...
go to XOTIC pc. Best prices, best lappies. Killers compared to what you get for price here in east. europe.
Heck; i play on something like 300$ 2011 555m i5 lappy 8gb ram; dota runs pretty OK
my bro has 2012y i think gtx 650m i7 4x3.3ghz 16gb and runs no noise ultra... and i cobsider his lappy pretty mefiocre for 2012.
and he spent around 1100-1200 bucks on ilthat acer at the time... for that price he could had bough 900-1000buck worth MSI lappy with amd 7980 videocard that was TWICE stronger and 13% faster processor; despite being amd (non nvidia). Nut even now his lappy is more than enough for dotes.
My old dell also is silent...
i thnk whatever you get above 700$ or so in 2015 will run dota XD
unless you want stuff like crysis 3
I guess I could agree more or less with mobility, but yes and no. A gaming laptop is usually unreal heavy and transporting that sucker can be a pain. I guess with a PC you learn to just stay and home and do your gaming, whereas I would imagine if you had a laptop you would carry it to friends houses etc. guess preference.
While I am not a fan of ATI anymore I think something like...
...could suit quite well. Slim, low key, and decent enough to take Dota2. Honestly Dota2 optimizes quite well for less powerful systems and can still look extremely good.
@havoc
its refurbished... Means probably had overgeating problems before or stuff like that.
OP, what is your budget and in what country do you live in?

Hi does anyone know a good 17 inches laptop for Dota 2?
I want to be able to play on the highest possible settings without the air fans hitting the maximum noise.
I would also like the laptop to be slim and with a good screen.
I know that MSI Stealth GS70 is a good option but the fans hit the max noise very fast. And the screen is not very good.
