Framerate problem in General Discussion

So I have recently upgraded my gpu to a gtx 750 ti. Pretty nice lil' card if you ask me. So far I can't complain about the performance on other games except dota ofc. IDK why but in dota it derps hard; I cant get more than 60 fps and I cant even maintain those 60 fps... Like I have 50-55 fps and when creeps meet it even decreases to 45. Now from what I saw my gpu should get easily 90 fps.

So I tried lots of things. Uninstalled my drivers, reinstalled them, uninstalled dota and reinstall it. Nothing seems to work. Fun fact: even if I turn down the settings it has no effect. Just for the sake of it I turned the settings down to absolute minimum and it still has the same framerate. Kinda weird cause I dont experience this in other games(shadow of mordor for example is working with constant 58-60-70 on my rig).

Can any tech geeks help me please? I also posted on reddit but it they didnt provide much help.

    My specs:
    CPU: amd athlon 2 x4 740
    gpu: msi gtx 750 ti
    ram: 4gb
    os: windows 7 64 bit

You do have vsync disabled right? Cus they will limit you to 60 fps if your monitor is 60 hz which it most likely is.

      Try tomshardware.com

      Hex Sigma

        yeah it's disabled.

Already posted on tom's hardware. TBH the issue is not that much of a deal cause its only in dota but still...

          Fucking lol'd.

I have a gtx 750 ti and just made a thread about this. Its probably a bottlenecking issue with your ram/cpu.

          Hex Sigma

            so did you solve it?

            Dire Wolf

Yeah but a quad core athalon should be plenty fast enough for dota 2. What's the clock rate? You have ddr3 ram? If he's getting 60 fps on shadow of mordor it should be fine.

I've had lower framerates on the themed map compared to classic for some reason

                Hex Sigma

                  @timberwolf it's 3.2 ghz; yes I do have ddr3 ram
@mokujin I'll try the normal map to see if it gets better

EDIT: tested it on the classic map, still the same fps. I find it weird tho the fact that no matter what settings I get the same framerate :|

                  Weird ways source engine has.

What did you have before? a 760 ti is like the 2nd lowest 700 series for nvidia. I think it's like a rebranded 650. If your budget minded always get at least 2 tier up from the lowest budget card of the series. For example 700 series, 750,..... 770, 780.. so get at least a 760 or up. Same with 600 series. A 660 is faster than a 750 ti. Sometimes newer generation doesn't mean faster. For further read. http://www.ocaholic.ch/modules/smartsection/item.php?page=0&itemid=1392

My old amd system ran around 60-90 fps too. Upgrading to a 6 core helped. If you can check if your motherboard supports a 1090t. That would give you like depending on your setting and render quality 90+ and lower ping times too.

Since Dota 2 is on dx9 and cpu based and not gpu, you'll get more fps from OC'ed cpu than budget gpu upgrade.

I had a shitty g210. Which was hitting like 30-35 sometimes 40 fps. On low settings. It doesnt seem normal to me at all. As I've said mb shadow of mordor is more optimized but still. The specs are worlds apart regarding the 2 games. And yet the later one works better.

Dota runs about as fast say in the 10-15% range whether it's my ati 6970, 7970 or 290x. I've only noticed faster framerates going from amd x4 640 to 965 to 1090t to fx 8350. I haven't tried crossfire for awhile tho it doesn't support it, tho I'd wish I'd try alternate frame render option.

IMO dota 2 actually been running slower as compared to the optimized LoL client over the last few years. It used to have solid 40-90 fps on a 5870 or 4870 back in the beta. If you tweak it good it actually gets stable 60+. Nowadays I'm not sure if those system can run solid 60 fps.

http://prntscr.com/69cxly on video/audio then advance.. try putting game screen render quality down to 25 or 50%. take off AA, fog, water etc... honestly If i can't play more than 40+ fps on dota 2 I would just drop down a resolution or two.

@Jacky Lmao, check out this chart. It's not exact but gives you an idea of your gpu's relative performance.

                              http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html

I have an i5-760, about same performance as his athalon x4. I had a gtx 460 1gb and it ran dota 2 just fine at 60 fps. On the chart it's two whole tiers below his current 750ti. I really doubt at this point it's his gpu or cpu performance. You could try overclocking your cpu though, see if you can get it up to 4ghz and see if it's faster.

It could just be a quirk with this card. What did the people over at tom's say?

                              Noé

Have you tried running borderless mode? try that + vsync on both there and on nvidia CP
Also, check your nvidia control panel settings, reset stuff to default if you changed anything.

@tomberwolf nobody responded my thread on toms hardware. Also i get about the same fps in tera. Something is definetly wrong. A guy from reddit told me that my cpu bottlenecks my gpu but i dont think that the bottleneck should be that hard...
