On illusions

for the purpose of hitting creeps Quelling Blade adds 32% damage while Daedalus adds 35%

for the purpose of hitting buildings Daedalus adds literally nothing

for the purpose of hitting heroes Daedalus does add more damage than a Butterfly (which gives merely 30 IAS/Damage)

its viability depends on what you intend your illusions to hit, for a fighting build it competes with Butterfly for the last slot (BoTs/Manta or SnY/Skadi/BKB/Hex), depends on what you need more at that stage of the game (physical EHP or damage in fights)

on ratting build it has no purpose at all

then again ive played games long enough where my personal courier carried one full inventory of fighting build (BoT/Manta/Skadi/Butterflyx3 on main, Refresher Orb/Necro 3/BKB/Hex/Daedalus on Courier)

i think you would want to push rather than to fight with terrorblade

I prefer going for butterfly most of the time , usually this and skadi are game winning items because illusions benefit the most

Butterfly adds a lot more dmg to your illusions than daedulus. The 30 IAS is basically 30% more dmg as they attack 30% faster than their base attack speed plus they get 30 dmg from your agi. There is pretty much zero reason to go daedulus before butterfly, or even skadi/heart late cus if you go s&y or manta and butterfly you're already hitting like a truck and a skadi would be a lot more beneficial for some survivability. If a game happened to go super late a daedulus as a 5th item might be pretty good like s&y, boots of travel, butterfly, skadi, daedulus.

Even for fighting I question daedulus over butterfly as a lot of your dmg comes from meta and getting 60 IAS from butterfly is boosting that static 80 meta dmg by like 60% vs critting some. I think the IAS is a bigger net dmg increase when factoring in the meta dmg.

sorry, that's not how IAS works

let's look at my average TB illusion at level 25, with BoT/Manta/Skadi/Butterfly/Butterfly

The base damage will be 258, and the IAS will be (100+119+26+25+30+30=331). This results in an attack every 1.5/3.31 seconds in melee form, or an attack every 0.45 seconds, 2.22 attacks per second.

At this point an illusion has 343.66 DPS.

If I get another butterfly, the base damage goes up to 288, and the IAS goes up to 361. This results in an attack every 1.5/3.61 seconds in melee form, or an attack every 0.42 seconds, 2.38 attacks per ssecond.

At this point the illusion has 411.264 DPS.

If I get a Daedalus, the base damage does not change, neither does the attack speed, but the overall DPS receives a flat 35% increase against non-structural units.

At this point the illusion has 463.941 DPS.

So Daedalus does give much more DPS against non-structural units overall, whether or not you should get it depends more on your playstyle.

Hmm but you are comparing it to a second butterfly. Can you compare with bot/manta/butterfly vs bot/manta/daedulus? or bot/manta/skadi/bfly to bot/manta/skadi/daedulus?

Edit: I'll attempt it myself, not quite sure where your 119 IAS comes from, as I thought at lvl 25 tb would have agi growth per level of 3.2 * 25 = 80 + base of 22 = 102. But I'll use the 119.

So going manta, skadi is base dmg of 147 + 26 + 25 = 198.
Attack speed is 100 + 119 + 26 + 25 = 270. Attacks every 1.5/2.7 = .55 seconds or 1.81 attacks a second.
End up with illusion dps of 215.

Second butterfly kicks that up to 273 dps.

Daedulus would up it to 290.

Ok looks like daedulus is more dmg in every setup at 25 but it's closer when you have less dps and that 35% isn't as much as the flat IAS and dmg from butterfly and won't hurt towers at all. So can't see any reason to go daedulus before butterfly, but I'll probably be getting one now as a 5th item aftert boots/s&y/skadi/butterfly.

you only level 24 times, so its 24*3.2

you forgot 10 levels of stats, which is 20 agi

also im pretty sure you mean first butterfly, not second

anyway if you are hitting with your hero daedalus starts to look alot better than butterfly, and in a fighting build you should be hitting with your main anyway

but yeah if you rat TB like me crit is irrelevant
