I'm way above 6k, and it's definitly out of question, it mainly dipend of your country thought (and your connection to stream)
Only when you're making big bucks off of playing the game. MMR doesn't matter at all. Sorry people who care about it, but it equals to zilch.
I think you're ready. Drop out of school, quit your job, take up doto full time. If in a years time it hasn't worked out for you I'll give you a rare to cover the costs.
if theres a good welfare system in your country or your parents are letting u stay at their house and pay for basic food + connection you are good to go regardless of mmr
I absolutely fucking love this thread. So Vandal did you quit your job? ;D
Vandals ranked this month
132 Games 43.18% win rate (so not dropping out yet I should think)
You don't quit your job or school to play dota, you delay them. You have to start playing dota at like 18, and not go to college or start a career until your pro dota is done around 27. If you're past 18 already you're too old and slow anyway, though maybe you can quit to be a dota2 coach of some team.
我是不哭鱼: There are not many better things than having a girlfriend like Zoe and playing dota 2 together or turning your hobby into a "profession" for some time, lol..!
Matrice: I am really impressed by your answer, i expected a player like you to had higher expectations, TI5 or 6 for example, regarding how well you are doing in this game. You are number 6 in worldwide rankings, you know that right? ;P
Guiri: How about you? You have improved greatly let's say in the last 6 months...?
Few days ago they announced a tournament for Hungarian teams, with a 1500$ prize pool. Furthermore, the winner team gets a sponsorship with monthly payment and daily professional practices.
The last LAN event winner had a player with 3500 MMR, and the fact that i think they're still playing together might cause that they win this as well so we're gonna have 3500 MMR pro player(s)?!

^Dacheat 6-7k with the ability to maintain it over a considerable amount of time is enough to get you started in the pro-scene for me. What i wanted to know is if "team mmr means more than solo mmr" when choosing to play any position other than number 1/2 which is the hard carry/mid role.
Honestly this is why I admire EE. If you THINK in your heart of hearts you are good enough then go for it. Just because an option is unpopular doenst make it a bad one. Even if you lose 1 year of your life its still more worth than later contemplating what could have been. But you have to treat it seriously if you go for it because its not a dream its a goal.

At what MMR is it okay to quit job/school?
