I hate dota so much the people are all dillusional retards the game makes me so stressed and rage more than anything in life i find myself deleting the game every week yet 2,000 wins later i still play it 5 hours a day even tho i really dont enjoy it -.-

Stronger addiction beats weaker one. For example, I switched from heroin to DOTA 2.

I was addicted to dota for like 7 or 8 years. Then i decided to stop it, get friends ( altought i was like alwaays guy who makes friends, enjoying life ),but i was sad, when i looked on how many days, weeks, months, i lost due playing some pixel on pc. I stoped it then, i become new man 😄

And tthen ,fucking shit , i wanted to try dota 2. Worst decision ever.

I got doto addiction I delete the local content, only to Install it again the next 2 days, it's so fast download and install. It's not even fun! Yet I still play it. Tbh there is no good pc game out at the moment or any good ps4 game. But dota 2 is shiet and addicting, the only thing now is to find something more addicting.

Flappy bird is more addicting 😉

When I installed this shit my friends told me its okey its not addictive, I could even quit wow after 5 fucking years, it would be easy to stop dota.... Biggest lie of my life!
Every fucking time a guy ask me out for a date my first thought is "Does he worth wasting time of my dota-time?" xD Important part of the picture, those guys really doesnt, and maybe if someone I really like would ask me I could quit but till that...
Nothing can make me rage as much as this shit game, not even fun anymore but still, have to start the client every day... And im the one telling others to quit smoking, cant even stop playing a stupid game, haha...

I can get addicted to anything, but so far dota wins... Its not drooling when I cant play, just getting frustrated after some days, usually happened when I came home for a long weekend. Now I can at least spectate on a laptop, thats enough, just need dota-dose... On top of it, im not even good at this game...

Is it possible to not stop dota, just play less, and also spend less time with it? Or its either play a lot or not at all? I havent played many games daily last some weeks but still have the client open all day, watch others etc, so that still counts as wasted time with dota.

I'm on the same page as you guys here… right now I'm up at 12 playing dota. and tomorrow is school. sigh

I started playing DotA 2 with 2 friends, all 3 of us had no moba experience whatsoever. I became the most addicted and they left me because I "wanted to win too seriously" I don't think they understood the point of dota :P

as i mentioned in different thread psychologist/behaviorist from valve got most of us that were verbally abused or neglected as 0-6 y old children by balls and tits

Well dunno i play alot of doto, but i have no problem stopping it for a while. I really dont know if you can get addicted to a game though.

It is the way our brain is created. Everyone is addicted, one way or another. It is like smoking or baiting nails. You change the neuro transmiters in brain to the point that, the thing you do makes you rellaxed and happy, thus gaining addiction. I do have dota addiction ( normaly, not 24/7 ) , and i know it, but i am not enought will power to stop it.

^^ There are people out there who can stay a whole night playing a single video game (dota could be one).
The story about that guy who died from playing so much video games, he actually neglected doing stuff like EATING or SLEEPING is not unknown.

Lol Blunt, from what little I remember about my psychology courses, a good way to know if someone is addicted to something is if they claim they can stop doing that something for a while with no problems.

people take it to the limit when they fight for something they want, this is true in every sport, whether its football or dota 2.

^^ Finishing university + working so they wont do that... :D And my mom knows im a healer (at least i was in wow, never bothered to explain the difference between support and healer, so still, playing healer :D) They actually get a laptop enough good i can at least start doto so i feel better when coming home. <3

At a more serious point, starting to work more regularly in some weeks, so maybe thatll give me a chance to quit the game.

Hehe, my mom knows gaming-child etiquette, my bros playing too, she even understood wow roles and casts... well, even read all warcraft novels (7 i think) that came out in hungarian, so knew warcraft lore better than the average wow player. :D

But dota is more retarded, I dont think I want to try to explain it to anyone... It just doesnt make sense if you dont play it. Im interested in your experiment xD

Protip: I usually explain things like how a game works (last summer i choose DnD style rpgs... xD) when my mom bottling jem in the summer, thats rly boooring to do and takes long time so shes more interested in anything.

Slightly more on, what you guys think about someone quitting dota asap after getting into a relationship? (Then possibly coming back later when its over...) Are you happy for them? Jelous? Thinking they are retarded for throwing their entertainment for a girl(/guy)?

Me first. Any girl, second. As long as i dont have to change much my lifestyle for someone esle, im fine.

Its okay to stop playing while gf, since that will give you much more life-relationship experience than dota. But its not the same playing 1-2 games/day than 5-10games/day.
My tip, as soon as u feel "encaged" in a relationship i highly suggest to move on and leave her behind, instead of trying to "fix" it (and arguing with her bullshit excuses for whatever pisses u off about her) Its noones fault in the end, just learning to move on without fear about your future, which creates new space for your life.

Best would be to have a fuck buddy ofc. But thats sth which is not easy to get, specially as a gamer.

^ Its fine as long as its not too much... Like gf calls, he picks up, is it urgent, if not, call back after game, as long as he really does it, right after game, not after 3 more matches, and not go for next round if there is anything better to do, its okey...
So important points, actually pick up that phone during game, actually call back after... Some girls even like watching their bf play, so if she does, let her, if not, dont make her do it. :D

Nooo, no fuck buddy, most people cant do it by rules and someone will get hurt. Its only okey if you stop kissing in 5 mins after action and only smalltalks allowed, only meet when you do something, otherwise its not gonna work. Even if you think its working, believe me, high chance the girl is hoping its gonna be more. Its not something you can safely do with a friend.

And being a gamer is not a problem. Being ugly or socially akward is, its just a coincidence most gamers are... :D
