sand king & zeus are normally to be played as support
sven/gyro
drow if 4 of you are ranged
jugg if your team has lone druid
naga siren (pretty popular?)
I realize that SK is a common support, but he's not listed as such in the descriptions. And Zeus is listed as one, but most don't really seem to play him as one that I've seen.
I once played with a friend of a friend of mine who had gone to pee and when he came back he picked Invoker. Then he said he messed up because he didn't notice we already had a mid lane DK and me with PA in safelane (so DK wouldn't go safe farming) and said fuck it, and went support Invoker instead of repicking...it was a weird game.
A misconception of most average-skill players is that every hero is 'locked' into a role. Literally any hero can be any role depending on the situation. Wraith King can be a very tank support that has a free aegis, and vladmirs that affects ranged, and have a stun, while heroes like Venge and Veno can be carries. Avoid the thought of "pro players do this" and think of "I can do this", that's what pro-players themselves think and thus create new metas.
Dagon + Arcane's maxed Stun Wraith King best Wraith King...I haven't done this yet, but I sooo want to try it.
Bloodseeker fits sorta into the support role. He has a beneficial ability for the team that works globally, he has an ultimate that goes through bkb that can completely shut down a core enemy hero, he has a long silence, he can trade hits with anyone and win early on, he has a ranged dot. try him :D
@BlackStar if a pro hasnt done it, you are going to get flamed to death for doing something different
@blackstar - I realize that, as well, but some just work much better at their main roles, if that makes sense.
beh, i just got flamed cause i played tiny as a carry instead of going the caster build, rofl
they were all like "WTF MANTA ON TINY WHAT A NOOB".. i got that manta by 18mins with a rhasta stealing all the LH early on
but manta is core on tiny... his illusions fucking rape buildings...
note that you can still go arcane+blink then go aghs ac manta...
@N0pe, they won't flame you if it works. You cannot say to someone he is a noob because he got dagon on puck- if he's 21-0
Just don't do stupid stuff.
@-hg-Bob_002
Then there should be no point to this thread. My point still stands.
SpiritBreaker - not in the meta, but if the enemy doesn't come with an agressive trilane, it really works out well. (Especially when the enemy tries to rat doto with Furion.)
Centaur - with a ShadowDemon it's pritty nice for the early ganks.
Sniper - once or twice we picked him as dual lane support for fun, it really annoyed the enemies with it's long range harassment with mini stun.

Lately I've been trying out Sand King support as "something different", and recently did Zeus earlier. I know Alch is coming in as a support as of late, but who else is that isn't typically either used as one or isn't listed as one? When I was looking at guides, I could only find one support Zeus guide; every other one uses him as a nuker/semi-carry.
