They have a weak early game essentially making it 4v5.
Meaning unless your team or you are horrid or your opponents are just that good, you should be winning them and making use of that opportunity to end early/snowball.
^^ Don't let them get any farm. They are easy kills at the start. CM , stick a point in the mana for all, and get a nuker. Even if you don't get the kill they'll spend all their time at the fountain and that leads to what is important. They aren't getting XP and gold.
Now, if you are talking about stopping an anti-mage who already has his manta paired with a PL then you and your team should kick yourselves in the balls for letting them get farmed and splitpushing you.
BKB. srs. Blocks all their mana burn which is where they pull a large amount of their damage from.
Other than that, like others say, just shut them down early. One of, if not the best counters to PL is a Spiritbreaker carrying dust and keeping the enemy jungle warded.
bs is a decent counter to am, his ult does good initial nuke dmg to his hp and unless they insta tp right after you can right click em down before then. with pl pre diffusal, dust or blue wards will rape him. on almost any hero
An equally hard carry, such as alchemist or spectre. Or just not let them get to that stage in the game where none of your heroes can face them. This isn't so much a case of hero counters, but more of a timing window kinda thing. As long as you don't let them get farm early game, and delay their items (BF/diffusal) by about 10 mins, and keep up the pressure, it should be fine unless you guys screw up or have an extremely earlygame oriented lineup.
@hellraiser
reminds me of a modded lobby game i played, heroes with random skills from the whole hero pool
i got a meepo with qop blink first, mana break 2nd , pl lance 3rd, and am blink ult
lmao
^ Dota Lod?
The most op thing I've done in those modded games was getting 2 short cooldown aoe nukes, an ulti which was also an aoe nuke and earthshaker's passive. Made damn sure one of my teammates had OD's aura as well.
^
hahaha wtf
what mod was that? i only played pudge wars, random heroes random skills, and the creep thingy.
there's undying's tombs arnd the map, kill it to capture, then use ur creeps to win
lolloll
^ It's a mod map, Lod = Legends of Dota. There's a ton of commands but the most accepted one is to get a random selection of heroes to choose skills from (20 or 30 heroes, I'm not sure) and when you pick a hero, you will get those skills. It was still ludicrous, specially when the 6 skills command was put, which allows 2 ultis and 4 regular skills to be picked. Essence Aura, Aftershock, Multicast and Rearm were the most op skills in that. Yes, very wtf, but was still great mindless fun, almost like a Michael Bay movie lol
antimage can be countered by any carry hero but need almost equal farm. pl and alchemist are good options. but it dependeds on the skill of players and how good they are at last hitting.
pl can be countered by a radiance rush or again am or alch or life stealer is any hard carry but again skill and farm is important. I like weaver rad or doom rad to counter pl. but still need to stop him from farming or else after manta and heart rad is shit.
Actually most OP thing in LoD was Ogre ulti. It worked with almost everything. Think about a x4 multicast Omni heal with 1440 heal and nuke damage. Damn that's fucking OP.
Yep, I did mention it. However, multicast Omniheal worked as multicast bloodlust, so it wasn't THAT OP...enter Dazzle's heal though and if you got a x4 multicast with it, you'd deal 3360 physical AOE damage to the unlucky fellow casually farming a creep wave :D
Even x2 multicasts were basically AOE PA criticals.
Medusa's ulti clears any illusions looking at her. The only downside is, depending on what build you use, AM can usually come online faster than Medusa.
once of the most imba builds was ursa/ls passive. with goblinshredded passive n specs with abas n skellys ults
am + manta and pl 2 different issues and need 2 different solutions (other than countering early game)
pl mostly affective disabler can be a pro es+ team ofc
and am + manta not that much as issue as it seems cuz sd is a huge encounter for him like so as morf !
anyhow best way senario u need a good support early a good carry lately :)
Get kunkka or Sven, a hero with cleave counters Pl and an orchid counters AM (since he doesn't build a bkb)
u cant carry against anti mage with manta and phantom lancer. Just the fact that anti mage has phantom lancer as a weapon now gives him 2 times normal carry ability. its gg. just leave
I love being Pugna and having Ags + a big mana pool and spamming life drain to kill illusions
IF they aren't dumb, am with manta and phantom lance is pretty much fucked for you guys. you should stop them before phantom lancer farmed a diffusal blade and am with manta.
Axe, spectre with blade mail, vanguard with the help of meka will help delay them. But if you don't have the team with stuns, disable, you are fucked either way
meepo can take both ofc with a blink and hex poof poof poof poof net net net net........
am can be countered with naix/bara with an orchid of malevolence. when i used to play pubs i would take naix and do orchid to kill that am..
but you still can do halberd and disable the shit out of him.
pl well he got his man now... dusa can kill him and his illu
Lots of options.
a) Shut them down early, most aggressive tris can fuck with them pretty good.
b) Plenty of offlane heroes while not necessarily being super effective early on, can dominate these heroes toward the the 10-15 minute of the game. An example of this is BH vs PL, where sure, in a 2/3 v 1 lane that buys sentries you may not have the best time, but with just a bit of XP you can cause him a lot of trouble, not to mention Track is pretty nifty at all stages of the game.
c) Certain heroes just shit on them. Against AM for example, I like to completely ignore him and play jungle Doom. Once Lothars is up (after Midas + Phase, my old build was TB + Midas but since the nerf to TB its changed), I try and gank him every time my ulti is off CD, and even if he does get a bit farmed he is still extremely easy to deal with, as he really isn't that tanky physically until he gets Butterfly or Heart, so you generally have quite a bit of time as the most common build is battlefury + manta/vlads. And Doom with Phase + Lothars and having devoured the wolf creep hits fucking hard.
PL is arguably the most difficult hero to beat late game, but you really do need to make an effort to push one lane down really hard, and destroy his illusions ASAP before he can get a whole army going. The only hero that can deal with him at this stage is a Medusa with 2 divines, and even then against a team that builds Dagger + Hex, which may give PL enough time to get his Abyssal stun off is a really dangerous scenario. Anyone suggesting someone like Sven or Kunkka have never tried it, Gyro in some whack theory might make some sense, but in reality the nerf to Flak Cannon makes things much harder, still not a bad option I guess.

what hero to counter antimage with manta and phantom lancer
