"mentor" is useless, you need to practice, read - play - play
well by mentor i meant that with whom i can skype and play. coz i m new so i might not know when to gank and how to gank and what mistakes i might make. Because in the heat of the moment i might make lot of mistakes, that would piss off my team, which i would be unaware off. so this "mentor" or the " friend " would be help me pointing out my mistakes and eventually i could improve.
go playdota.com
find hero guide there then play that hero minimum 5 times (better 10 or even more) until u get atleast basics of the hero
then repeat that with every hero once u do that find the role u wanna play with and start practicing heroes for that role
prettymuch every "misc" guide at playdota.com gives u alot of understanding of game
ok thanks. all of you guys. is it ok if i add you ugys up so i can spectate your games and learn ?
Mentoring actually does help a lot. Problem, is, the in-game system for this isn't up yet. Your best bet is to keep playing, and add up players who you feel are better than you.

hi. i m new to the game and i have a decent idea of the game and limited knowledge of the mechanics.
i really want to learn this game like a pro and play competitively. I dont have much experience yet
(195 hours). I would really appreciate if some one can mentor me and give me rough ideas about how a particular hero is supposed to be played competitively. I also have lots of other questions so if anyone is willing to help me out and play with me as a mentor. please add me up or give me your names so i can add you up on steam
