Kinda agree, I was high 4k during 2012-2015, the 3k bracket now feels higher skilled than the 4k games from old.
Agree, I was getting a lot of free drops after the game, including TB arcana, but now they deleted that system.
5.5K 6 years ago, if they didn’t evolve along with the game, yeah they’d be 3K. But if they were able to keep up, they either stayed, or climbed.
Which is why smurfs dont matter that much once you are in 3k. Even smurf arc wardens and meepos are easy to trash. The laning stage has also evolved so much where movements become very predictable. Still there are some old players coming in to try only to find themselves not being able to fit in and they dont know what neutral items are.
They fixed the oracle bug like days after it was abused. Before the oracle abuse, the infamous high rank abuse was zeus ult spam.
Because back then to get high mmr is just by picking zeus, spam ur skills till 0 mana just to deal most damage in the game. Then voila, ez 5k mmr. And also tinker / np.

every win is like +200 rank till rank 2k(on SEA rank 1k i guess).

i've always played dota with a huge hiatus. 3months,6months & 1yr+ breaks. Now, i tried playing more relaxed and play like 1~4 games a day. if i would lose 2 games, i would take a break. i regained 600+ mmr i think in the past few weeks just picking 1~4 hero pool that i think are quite strong.
Just means you were always garbage. Not that you were a real 5k player. One can always highly boost ones own mmr by playing OP heroes and last picking heroes like brood/meepo/tinker and the like.

deres still many ways to stomp pubs,you can pick really op heroes
play the map correctly pressure creepwaves etc
i can see that some 6k-7ks cant even really play the map correctly too or punish their opponents from their mistakes so its possible for you to climb
also,from what i see ancient/divine/5k6 5k7 5k8 players have so many weaknesses too,like they bad at mid and more so cant play the map properly etc (the lower you go the easier to stomp them) so try your best lol
if some hero doesnt work,try other hero esp the op ones,makes game easier

its not very hard tbh, but everybody not doing them. like in my last game my rank 500 ns sitting in his free lane(literally nobody is there) in night time and last hitting creeps. he dont even plan to pressure the tower. its fucking mind blowing. guess which team was in pressure for the next 10 minutes cause of one guy poor decision making.

I feel you bro. The last time I play was around 2013. I left and play around 2016 and I left again, I have like 4,2k before I created new account and calibrated legend 4 around 3.5k mmr. But after watching few tutorial I was able to coop up with the game and the trends, I watch game leap, and pro dota guides in yourube it really helps. And now Im back grinding.

I remember my friend spamming Oracle during his calibration and abuse the healing stats (purifying flames). Went 0-10 but calibrated at 4.8k lmao.
