Burst damage or lockdown is good. Lina is pretty strong against her, in general you have to exploit her usually low hp and lack of defensive items.
^I don't think she is. QoP, Ember, Lina are better heroes imo. You counter her by nukes. MKB rapes her, because she has very low armor. You can 3 shot her with some carries in the late game. She is also not that great vs many lockdowns (esp. Lion). I don't find her to be OP. She is a very good mid, top mid pick, but I won't find her to be difficult to deal with.
Wind ranger is a defensive hero, how can she kill you without a great shackle? Just farm, don't feed her right?

She can carry a game alone when played right. Ever since the sceptre rush became popular the hero has been incredibly strong to play against.
Items are game dependant and hero dependent, some of the ones I found to work well are. Blademail, linkens, lotus orb, and some escape/disable items are always an easy bet.
Called it before, Wind Ranger and TA, sigh* and to answer your question, you don't, she can do it all baby, just like Lina last patch. (still somewhat) Carry + support.
Ember seems pretty good though! o_o
Her skills make her so versatile, and her wind run makes her hard to gank, she's so good, and her DPS is insane if she shackles you into focus fire.
MKB or characters with high burst damage like other people said seem to be nice ideas.
WR is the hero I play the most. I play her as support (she was played in that role in competitive DotA two years ago). When I play her my enemies (nightmares) usually are Pudge, Shadow Fiend, Riki, Axe, Bristleback and others. She is very squishy in early game, so if you have some source of pure damage, negative armor and heavy physical damage heroes, disables and tanky heroes with tanky items Windranger will be a feeder and a useless hero in her team.
Well yeah if she gets scepter she can just wind run you under towers and kill you. But you can still win lane vs her early when she has no offensive abilities if you dodge power shot and shackle
idk, it seems a bit hard to kill someone as wr when other lanes are losing and you're going aghs
i feel like i barely have any damage with her and have to stay at one place for a long time to burst someone
Get her out of position and force her to fight multiple heroes at once and she'll crumble. Pudge, Batrider, Magnus, Clockwerk, Io... Even making her buy a force staff will slow down her farm enough so she won't carry the midgame into a snowballed lategame
@Arin that's why I mean, I don't really play mid but if she's ever offlane, I'll even be a solo melee vs her and do fine, you just can't let her hit you with a million powershots. If you get stout shield she doesn't do much dmg at all and cannot threaten you.
wr is all about who jumps who..
if she gets the jump on you pray to god you have a dazzle, abaddon or io relocate..
if you jump wr shes dead..
