It's when there are 3 players on one team, who's egos all demand they go mid.

Trilanes are really fun! its like a tea party with your two best friends, only there is only one cup and all three of you try to drink out of it at the same time. which wouldn't be that bad except none of you arms. So you all just end up smashing your heads into each others. Best case scenario, the other two knock each other out, and you can lick up scorching hot liquid and broken china off the table cloth.

i know 2 support 1 carry - easy 1 mid 1 offlane solo but i dont knew if that called trilane :D

if u want trilane pick some ugly carry like slark and ask for 2 hot chicks to come cheer for you in lane, like cm and lina

A trilane means 3 heroes in one lane.
There are 2 types of trilane: defensive and agressive.
The usual one (defensive) consists of 2 supports and 1 carry in your safelane(radiant bot, dire top). One of the supports should harrass enemies, while the other should try to pull and, sometimes, roam. The carry of trilane will get every lasthit, because you have hero number advantage on the lane. You will also have a solo mid and a hardlane hero (radiant top, dire bot). The hardlaner should be a survivable hero.

Another type (agressive) is when you put 3 heroes with high kill potential in your hardlane and a solo easylane hero. Your trilane should kill enemies, or it will be wasted.
